Securing the Dream:
60th Anniversary fundraiser
Fort Wayne Astronomical society is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1959. We support amateur observing and public education in Astronomy and related sciences.
Since 1959, Fort Wayne Astronomical Society has offered
Star*Quest Observatory opened in May of 2017, and has since offered accepted for our public stargazing sessions and private star parties for the community (Boy/Girl Scouts, churches, school and university students, and private individuals). In fact, there is such a demand and interest in what we offer that sometimes we wonder if we can keep up!
Fort Wayne Astronomical Society (FWAS) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit group incorporated in 1959. We own Star*Quest Observatory, which is run completely by a small (but very dedicated!) group of volunteers. While historically, donations and annual memberships have been enough to keep FWAS and the previous observatory afloat, a new approach must be taken to help us maintain the momentum that our new facility has given us.
How your donation will make a difference
As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we are thinking about what the future looks like for FWAS and Star*Quest Observatory. Star*Quest Observatory has been a hit within the community and that is invaluable to us, but it does come with many costs. The funds raised during this campaign will be used to start an endowment fund to cover recurring observatory costs. This will allow FWAS the freedom to grow in new ways to keep up with the community’s interest in astronomy!
